The Best and Worst Trench Coats of Spring 2021

Spring is one of my favorite seasons but it also poses a fashion dilemma — some days it’s warm, some days it’s still cold. The trench coat is a functional but fashionable solution.

One of my favorite deals this season is this double-layered trench coat designed by Asos. It is truly elegant and has a timeless feel. Its collar is so chic, too! The lower layer is an ashy fern green, and the upper layer is pastel pistachio. It makes this trench coat look sort of tender, even though traditionally this piece of attire was developed for military purposes.

It comes in an oversized style, but if you’re not a fan of that, consider ordering one size down from your usual so that it won’t look as baggy.

If you’re afraid of spring showers and unexpected weather changes, you could go for an even warmer trench coat. This teddy collar belted maxi coat was designed to keep you toasty. It also looks adorable and snuggly. And just like the last one, it’s currently on sale! Hip hip hooray!

If you get this camel trench coat, you will instantly look like a real detective who solved the eternal dilemma of what to wear. And yet again, this staple piece is on sale!

As Sherlock would say, “It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important.” And the little details of this trench coat like the leopard print buttons and buckle, the tidy notch lapels, and the shoulder epaulets are what really makes it work.

You might start thinking that trench coats are so universal, you can’t go wrong with them. But you know what?

You actually can.

We are all human; we all make mistakes. Designers are human, too. And as you may have noticed through LittlePinkTop’s Deal or Disaster articles, they make a lot of mistakes.

Even when the silhouette is the same, there is always a chance that the color isn’t quite right. This Topshot belted trench coat is a good fit and a nice cut. But hey, cut it out with that tacky neon blue color! It’s freaking me out and gives me a slight headache. But if you want to be a member of Blue Man Group, or if you want to look like a powder blue sky that got high on its own acid rain, go for it, I guess.

The color yellow is said to be energizing as well as confidence and creativity-boosting. But it looks like London Fog got too creative and brought too much yellow in one of its latest coats. Don’t get me wrong, this trench coat would be perfect for you if you’ve always wanted to look like a NYC cab. But for me, 30 seconds of staring at the yellow version makes everything start flickering. I’d rather hail another trench coat.

If you want to check out one more problematic coat this season, take a look at this cropped trench coat. Is it cropped because someone was too busy to sew a normal length? This is also an incredibly busy-looking trench coat. There’s bows and wrinkled fabric and it just doesn’t work.

And just like that, you might or might not have a trench coat in your shopping cart right now. It’s up to you whether or not to proceed to check out. To close with a Matrix quote: “Neo, sooner or later you’re going to realize just as I did that there’s a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.” So, be careful about your fashion path and keep coming back for LittlePinkTop.com for more fashion advice!
